Host a Studio at MACHINICON 2025

  • Who can host a studio?

This January, Second Life will be alive with storytelling as MACHINICON 2026 invites residents to explore Short Stories, Big Worlds.

We’re looking for brands, builders, and creative visionaries to host pre-built ‘studios’—immersive sets where residents can film short machinima scenes, capture stunning photos, and experience your work up close.

Showcase your creativity. Inspire the next story.

  • Why should I host a studio?

Open your space to allow residents to spotlight your work in a creative, cinematic context. Drive new visitors directly to your location or store and connect with Second Life’s growing machinima community.

  • What do I need to provide?

    A filming-friendly scene at your location—this can be…

a unique build showcasing your products in a story-ready way…

or a custom set designed just for MACHINICON visitors…

or a portion of your region/home repurposed for filming access…

Sets can be any genre—sci-fi, fantasy, romance, noir, western, slice-of-life, surreal—anything that sparks imagination.

  • How does it work?

    1. Grab the STUDIO PACK - Click this link to go to the MACHINICON Office Location.

    2. Build Your Studio – Design a filming set in your location.

    3. Register your spot - Visitors can teleport directly to your location using the MACHINICON HUD.

    4. Visitors Explore, Film, and Share – Your location becomes part of a creative grid-wide journey.

    5. Get Featured – We’ll include your studio in our event map, social posts, and promotional materials.

  • How to add Branding without making the Studio feel like an Ad

Your set should feel like a film studio first, and a store second. The goal is to inspire creativity while still letting visitors know where your work comes from. A few easy ways to blend branding into your set include

… Environmental Touches like subtle signage, posters, or packaging that naturally fits the scene (like a branded billboard in a city, or a shop sign in a village).

…Props in Action! Use your products as working set pieces—chairs actors sit on, outfits worn in a scene, or decor that defines the mood.

Think of your studio like a movie location: the story comes first, but the details will remind creators where the magic came from.

  • It there a fee associated with participating in the event?

There is a $250 L sign up fee; this is collected when the STUDIO PACK is purchased in the MACHINICON office.

In addition to the STUDIO PACK, all creators agree to display the Bay City Collection Jar for the city wide fundraiser for XYZ CHARITY for the 30 day duration of the event.

  • Can I host an event?

Sure! We need people to host events as well as studios. Host a show, game, or an epic party - anything that a budding film maker might want to record while they enjoy the spectacle you’ve prepared.

  • Is there a limited number of spots?

Yes - MACHINICON is hoping to feature 60 locations this year - 30 of them being commercial brands.

  • What is the registration deadline?

Deadline to join the studio tour: January 1, 2026
    Event dates: January 15 - February 15, 2026
